On 25 September the Wohnen+ Basel community came together in person and with music. In the new exhibition space of the Jewish Museum of Switzerland, the musicians of the La Rueca Trio presented a tailored program of traditional songs, lullabies and tango to approximately 30 members and friends. It was a night for our community to share music and culture, gather safely, and enjoy the company of members and friends.
Following the theme Filandón, (The Musical Thread), our Hispanic musical tour took us first to Spain with a selection of traditional pieces that were by turns funny, ironic and haunting. They presented us with sewing circles, lullabies and housewarmings.
Leaving Spain behind after a short break, we traveled to Argentina for a selection of modern and traditional tangos that touched our hearts and, in the musician’s words, ‘exorcised emotions.’
A spirited Apéro followed the concert, reminding us of the joy of community despite the pandemic’s challenges.
